Postpartum Care

The postpartum period is a very important time for you to take care of your physical and emotional needs.

Remember all of your body’s changes in pregnancy and birth

  • You gained and lost anywhere from 25-80 lbs

  • Your hormones have been roller coastering

  • The abdominal muscles were stretched like taffy

  • The ligaments that support your joints loosened

  • The organs compressed  and shifted around

  • Your pelvic floor and bladder..need  I say more?

  • C-section surgery (maybe)

  • The pelvic floor stretched the size of your baby’s head

  • Gravity had its way with your spine, pelvis and other joints

  • Your uterus grew to accommodate your baby

  • Your uterus contracted for hours on end

  • Your body/mind is exhausted

 

There are many health concerns that arise from carrying  and birthing your baby. The above list details many of the factors that contribute to  women’s experiences in the postpartum years and beyond.

Postpartum issues include:

  • Low back pain

  • Upper back pain

  • Pubic bone /groin/tailbone pain

  • Neck pain

  • Wrist & hand pain

  • Pelvic pain
